Privacy Policy
The short version: this is a static website. We do not ask you to register, we run no advertising network, and we do not sell data. We use Google Analytics in privacy-preserving mode to understand aggregate use, and affiliate links pass a referral identifier to the retailer.
What We Collect
Nothing you type. There are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no forms on this site. We hold no name, email address or payment detail because there is no mechanism here to give us one.
Standard server logs. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Cloudflare's handling is governed by its own privacy policy.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure page views and understand site use in aggregate. Our configuration denies analytics and advertising storage by default, disables Google Signals and disables advertising-personalisation features. Google may receive limited technical information such as the page viewed, browser and device type, and coarse location derived from the connection. We do not send names, email addresses, payment details or anything entered into a calculator. Google's handling is governed by its privacy policy.
Site search runs entirely in your browser. Our search index is a static file downloaded to your device and queried locally. Your search terms are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. Figures you enter are processed on your device and never sent anywhere. We cannot see them.
Cookies
We set no advertising cookies. Google Analytics storage is denied by default in our current implementation, so the site does not set Google Analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set a cookie strictly necessary for security and performance.
Affiliate links are different. When you click one and arrive at a retailer, that retailer typically sets a cookie recording that we referred you, so any resulting commission is attributed correctly. That cookie is set by them, on their site, under their policy — not by us.
Affiliate Links and Third Parties
Some links here carry a tracking parameter identifying The Goldback Guide as the referrer. Following one shares with the retailer the fact that you arrived from us, alongside whatever they collect from any visitor.
We receive commission reports in aggregate — totals and counts. We are not told who you are, and we cannot connect a purchase to an individual visitor.
Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy governs. We have no control over it. See our affiliate disclosure for the commercial side of these relationships.
What We Never Do
- Sell, rent or trade personal information.
- Run advertising networks or behavioural ad targeting.
- Build profiles of individual visitors.
- Ask for financial details. Never enter payment information on this site — there is no legitimate reason to, and any page here requesting it is not ours.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR (if you are in the UK or EEA) and the CCPA (if you are in California), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port personal data held about you, and to object to its processing.
We hold no account, mailing-list or purchase database and do not directly hold identifiable visitor profiles. Limited technical measurement data is processed by Google and Cloudflare under their respective policies. If you believe we hold something about you, contact us and we will look and respond.
For data held by Cloudflare as our host, or by a retailer you clicked through to, those requests are directed to them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
