Goldback Research and Data Center
Independent research into Goldbacks: what has been produced, what each denomination contains, and what the issuer does and does not publish. Every figure is attributed to the entity that published it and carries the date it was read.
The research library
Each entry states what the research answers, its headline finding and the data it covers. Findings are as of each page’s own observation date and change when the underlying sources do.

Goldback Mintage Reference
How many of each Goldback were produced, and who published the figure?
Key finding: A cross-series reference of 210 tracked records. 164 carry a figure published by Goldback Inc., 18 rest on a named dealer alone, and 28 have no published figure located at all. An issuer figure is not the same as a confirmed year and edition: only 89 records have both, because most issuer cards name a figure without naming an edition. The collector assumption that Alpha editions are always rarer does not hold on the dealer-attributed figures.
210 records across 10 state series, 2019 to 2026. Issuer sources read 13 October 2026, dealer sources 12 October 2026
Download the dataset (CSV, 192-record issuer subset) A subset: the page carries all 210 tracked records, the file carries 192 and excludes the 18 resting on a dealer compilation alone. Of the 164 records with an issuer figure, 89 have both year and edition confirmed by the issuer. Our compilation layer is CC BY 4.0, to the extent we hold those rights; the figures are their sources’ published facts. Field definitions and licence scope.

Goldback Denomination Reference
How much gold is in each denomination, and which series publish a denomination set?
Key finding: Gold content is a fixed published specification per denomination, independent of the gold price, the series and the seller. Goldback Inc. publishes one system-wide scheme plus a rule about which series carry the fractional values, rather than a lineup per state, and for four of its named full series it states no denomination set anywhere on its own pages.
9 denominations and 10 state series, read 6 September 2026

Goldback Statistics
What verifiable numbers describe the Goldback ecosystem?
Key finding: Nine states have full series, with California a Limited Early Release rather than a tenth full series, which resolves the issuer’s own earlier inconsistent counts. Adoption figures, including the 5,491 merchants reported for the first half of 2026, are company-reported by Goldback Inc. and not independently audited, so each is attributed and dated rather than presented as established fact.
Structural facts plus dated company-reported adoption figures, read 24 July 2026 with later dated recaptures

How this research is produced
The method is the same across every dataset. Figures come from named sources recorded with the date they were read, and a figure published by Goldback Inc. is distinguished from one published by a dealer, because the difference is the most important fact about any claim in this niche.
Company statements are labelled as company statements and never upgraded into independent facts. Nothing is estimated, interpolated or inferred from an adjacent figure.
Where sources disagree, the disagreement is reported with both values rather than resolved silently, and where a figure is suspect it is withheld rather than republished. Corrections are handled under the corrections policy, and the standards these pages are held to are set out in the editorial policy.
Using this research
Each page carries its own citation guidance and a how-to-cite block. When quoting a specific figure, cite the publisher named in its row and the observation date rather than this site alone, and say whether the figure came from the issuer or from a dealer.
Every table is server-rendered, so each figure can be checked in a browser without running any script. Researchers, journalists and site owners are welcome to cite these datasets with attribution.
